The franchise arrived mid-season: on July 12, 1905, the Jamestown Hill Climbers packed up an 18-23 record and moved to DuBois, where the renamed Miners went 22-37 the rest of the way and finished last at 40-60 under managers Harry Knight and John Lawley.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe club improved considerably from there. By June 1907 DuBois sat atop the eight-team league standings, trading first place with Oil City while Punxsutawney chased them both, and the town's ballclub was strong enough that its pitching staff became a store other clubs shopped from.
