Ashland Fruit Company Baseball Team
The Ashland Fruit Company baseball team was an independent team that played various teams around eastern and central Kentucky during the early 1930s. At the time, some teams were either sponsored by or otherwise employees of the company they were playing for and the Ashland Fruit Company team is no exception. We saw the team referred to as the 'banana peddlers' in an old newspaper article from 1930, so it seemed fit to put a banana on their logo.
It doesn't appear that the Asland Fruit Company baseball team was part of any league, mostly playing an independent schedule. They did play some teams from the Eastern Kentucky League that was around during this time, including the Olive Hill Brickies, and the Ashland National Guard. From what we can tell, the Fruit Company itself existed until at least 1950.
