Vintage South Carolina Shirts: Defunct South Carolina Baseball Teams
South Carolina's professional baseball ran from the upcountry mills to the Lowcountry coast. The Greenville Spinners took their name from the textile mills that built the upstate and carried it for the better part of half a century.
On the coast, the Charleston Sea Gulls finished 51-32 in 1893 for the best winning percentage in a twelve-team league and took the title, one of four championships the club collected between 1892 and 1922.
