Vintage Texas Shirts: Defunct Texas Baseball Teams

When oil came out of the ground in East Texas, baseball followed. The East Texas League filled the boom towns of the 1930s and 1940s with clubs like the Kilgore Drillers, the Henderson Oilers, and the Longview Cannibals, while the Big State League ran through Austin, Waco, Texarkana, and the Gulf ports after the war. Add the Wichita Falls Spudders, the Lubbock Hubbers, and the Jacksonville Tomato Pickers, and Texas may have the best collection of defunct team names in the country.
