The Bellingham Chinooks of Bellingham, Washington, played two seasons of professional baseball, 1938 and 1939, and they went from second place to champion to last place in that time. Under manager Ken Penner the Chinooks finished 68-65, beat Vancouver and then first-place Yakima 4 games to 3 for the Western International League title, behind Bill Fleming's 20 wins and league-leading 1.79 ERA. Catcher Cliff Dapper, later traded for broadcaster Ernie Harwell, started his career here.
The 1939 club went 40-102 under three managers, including Jimmie Reese, Babe Ruth's former roommate. Future Giants All-Star and Angels manager Bill Rigney played for Bellingham that year. After the season the franchise was sold and moved to Salem, Oregon.
