Dawson Spings Resorters
The Dawson Springs Resorters, hailing from Dawson Springs, KY, were a one year entry in the KITTY League in 1916. The team played at Riverside Park (aka Tradewater Park), which was originally built to host the Pittsburgh Pirates spring training in 1914. The park was destroyed by a flood in the 1930s but was rebuilt in 1999.
The Resorters got their name from Dawson Springs' popularity as a travel destination in the early 20th century due to the mineral springs in the area. The team played only one season and unfortunately the KITTY League folded during the middle of that season! The Resorters finished 33-41 and were in fourth place when the league folded. They would not return when the KITTY League started up again in 1922.
