The Harrisburg Coal Miners, hailing from Harrisburg, Illinois, were a KITTY League (Kentucky - Illinois - Tennessee) team during the early 20th century. The KITTY League had different iterations that ran from 1903-1955.
Harrisburg had a few different KITTY League teams; first the Merchants in 1910, then the Miners in 1911, and the Coal Miners in 1913. The 1911 Miners picked up and moved to Jackson, TN, and became the Jackson Climbers mid-season, citing financial losses in Harrisburg. The 1913 Coal Miners struggled, going 42-85 and finished in 7th place. The team would not return for the 1914 season and Harrisburg has not hosted pro ball since.
