Lodge & Shipley Baseball Club (Ohio)
The Lodge & Shipley Baseball Club was a high level amateur team that played in the Brendamour Saturday League during the 1910s. The league was comprised of mostly teams local to the Cincinnati area, and many teams were sponsored by or consisted of employees from local companies. The Lodge & Shipley team was sponsored by the Lodge & Shipley machine tooling company, which was a company that made lathes and founded in Cincinnati. The company would last until 1987.
The baseball team won the Brendamour league in 1912 and challenged the American Tool Works team for an overall title, as ATW were champions of another local league, the M and M league. We did some research on the same in this photo and some of these guys were no slouched and played minor league ball during this team. Jake Vatter played with the Paducah Chiefs of the KITTY League as well as the Jonesboro Zebras of the Northeast Arkansas League.
