The Nacogdoches Cogs were a minor league baseball team that played one season in the East Texas League in 1916. The name is of course a play on the 'Cog' in Nacogdoches, and they are the only known pro ball team from Nacogdoches. The East Texas League ran from 1916 through 1940, but unfortunately the first season in 1916 was a rough one and a number of teams folded. But it did give us some great team nicknames like the Cogs and the Jacksonville Tomato Pickers!
