The Boise Buckskins played one season of professional baseball in Boise, Idaho, in 1978, as an independent club in the short-season Class A league in the Pacific Northwest. Owner Lanny Moss, formerly general manager of the Portland Mavericks, had businesses and fans sponsor individual players for $3,000 apiece to keep the club running.
The Buckskins played at Borah Field under manager Gerry Craft. Former Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Danny Thomas hit .359 to lead the league, but the club finished 23-49. By the final weeks of the season the players were going without pay, and the franchise ceased operations in February 1979.
