The Orlando Bulldogs of Orlando, Florida were the 1923 champions of central Florida's professional league, and the team that christened Tinker Field. Hall of Famer Joe Tinker, of "Tinker to Evers to Chance" fame, ran the club, and when the ballpark named for him opened on April 19, 1923, Orlando declared a city holiday: every business closed at noon and 1,700 fans watched the Bulldogs beat Lakeland 3-1.
The franchise began as the Orlando Caps in 1919, won a disputed co-championship in the league's first season, took the 1921 title with Tinker as manager, and closed the decade as the Colts with one more championship in 1927. Our design honors the Bulldogs name from the ballpark's dedication year.
