The Punxsutawney Policemen played in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, in the Class D Interstate League in 1906 and 1907. The statistical record carries the club as the Policemen, but the town's own paper was never so settled on the matter. Through the 1907 season the Punxsutawney Spirit and the Pittsburgh papers used Policemen and Pirates for the same club almost interchangeably, sometimes within a single account. How the Policemen name arose is not recorded.
The 1907 club, run by field manager Milt Montgomery and business manager W. J. Brown, played its home games at East End Park and spent the summer in the thick of the pennant race. In mid-June Punxsutawney sat at .500, then won six of seven in a single week to push toward the top of the standings behind DuBois and Oil City. The roster leaned on catcher Bill Bailey's bat and on pitcher John Adams, of whom the Spirit wrote that he "goes into a game with a well-set notion of trimming his opponents."
The franchise's boldest move that summer was a piece of same-day roster surgery. In late June, Brown traveled to DuBois and bought a pitcher named Blanchard off the league leaders' own staff. Blanchard arrived in Punxsutawney on the 2:30 afternoon train, put on a uniform, and shut out Kane on two hits that same day.
Punxsutawney has not hosted professional baseball since the Interstate League's run ended, though the town went on to become considerably more famous for a different local animal.
The Interstate League was a Class D circuit drawn from the oil, coal, and lumber towns straddling the Pennsylvania and New York line, with clubs in DuBois, Punxsutawney, Kane, Bradford, Oil City, Franklin, Erie, and Olean.
