Crisfield Crabbers

The Crisfield Crabbers, based in Crisfield, Maryland, were a charter member of the Eastern Shore League in 1922, playing through 1928 and returning for a final season in 1937 as a New York Giants affiliate before the franchise folded for good. The nickname comes directly from Crisfield's identity as a center of the Chesapeake Bay crab industry, a reputation the town still holds today.

The Crabbers won their only Eastern Shore League championship in 1926, finishing 63-21 under manager Mike Pasquella, seven games ahead of second-place Salisbury. Future major league catcher and longtime manager Paul Richards played for Crisfield in 1926 and 1927, leading the league with 17 wins as a pitcher in 1927 before going on to a long career as a player, manager, and front-office executive in the majors.

The Eastern Shore League was a Class D league that ran on the Delmarva Peninsula across three separate stretches: 1922 to 1928, 1937 to 1941, and 1946 to 1949, with teams drawn from Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia.
