Dyersburg Forked Deers

The Dyersburg Forked Deers, or Dyersburg Deers, hailed from Dyersburg, Tennessee, and played from 1923 to 1925. Their name was derived from the Forked Deer River system of west Tennessee.

The Deers split their time between two leagues. They were initially in the Kitty League (Kentucky-Illinois-Tennessee) in 1923 and 1924 and won the league both seasons, defeating the Mayfield Pantsmakers for the 1923 playoff title and knocking out the Paris Parisians in 1924. When the Kitty League folded, the Deers joined the Tri-State League for 1925 and posted an impressive 59-46 record, but no title. The team did not return for 1926.
