Dyersburg Forked Deers
The Dyersburg Forked Deers or Dyersburg Deers hailed from Dyersburg, TN, and played baseball from 1923-25. Their name was derived from the Forked Deer River System located in west Tennessee.
The Deers split their time between two leagues. They were initially in the KITTY League (Kentucky - Indiana - Tennessee) in 1923 and 1924, winning the league both seasons. In 1923, they defeated the Mayfield Pantsmakers for the playoff title, and then knocked out the Paris Parisians in 1924. When the KITTY League folded, the Deers joined the Tri-State League for the 1925 season and went an impressive 59-46 record, but no titles. The team would not return for 1926.
