Huntington Aces
The Huntington Aces were a minor league baseball team from Huntington, WV. They played in the Mountain State League for the 1941 and 1942 seasons. The Mountain State League was a Class D league in the 1930s and 40s consisting of teams from West Virginia. The Aces weren't very successful, finishing last in the six team league in both seasons. It's unclear if teams kept folding or just changing their name in Huntington, as the Mountain State League team from Huntington seemed to have a different name almost every year. We do know that the Aces did rebrand to the Jewels for the 1943 season after a contest to name the team was held. The Jewel name referring to Huntington as the 'jewel city of the Ohio valley'.
