The Big Stone Gap Rebels were a minor league baseball team from Big Stone Gap, Virginia, that played in the Class D Mountain States League, a circuit of teams from Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. They played at Bullitt Park, which remains a public park with athletic facilities today. Teams like the Rebels reflected the era’s deep ties between baseball and local identity, as the sport flourished across small towns during the first half of the 20th century.
