The Roswell Sunshiners, based in Roswell, New Mexico, were charter members of the Class D West Texas-New Mexico League in 1937, the city's first professional team since 1923. They went 55-62 to finish second, playing at League Park, a 1,200-seat ballpark with a reported 500 feet to dead center field.
In the playoffs the Sunshiners beat the Monahans Trojans three games to two before the Wink Spudders swept them in the finals. The club did not return for 1938, and Roswell went without professional baseball until 1949.
