The Bismarck Barons, based in Bismarck, North Dakota, played from 1955 through 1957 in the Manitoba-Dakota League, an independent circuit that ran across the northern plains and into Canada. The Barons ended a thirty-year gap since Bismarck last had a professional club.

The most notable player to come through was Ray Dandridge, who joined the 1955 Barons and led the league in hits at age 41. Dandridge had spent his prime in the Negro leagues and in Mexico, won the American Association most valuable player award with the Minneapolis Millers in 1950, and never got a major league at bat. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987.

Bismarck's earlier professional baseball came in 1922, when a relocated Valley City club finished the Dakota League season as the Bismarck Capitals, and in 1923, when the Capitals were a charter member of the short-lived North Dakota League. Between those clubs and the Barons, the city was best known for its semiprofessional teams of the 1930s, which fielded integrated rosters that at various points included Satchel Paige. The Bismarck-Mandan Pards followed the Barons, affiliating with the Minnesota Twins from 1962 to 1964 and the Houston Astros in 1966.

Our premium lightweight shirts are the hugely popular Bella+Canvas brand 3001 tees. They are much lighter and thinner feeling than a traditional heavyweight tee. They also are more form fitting and feel more snug. These are generally 90% to 100% cotton, although please note that heather colors in this item are 52% cotton.

Size Guide: Fit is true to size or a little snug. Considering ordering one size up if you are normally between sizes.
