The Madisonville Miners of Madisonville, Kentucky, played in the Kitty League in 1916, 1922, and from 1946 to 1955, often as a Chicago White Sox affiliate with uniforms in navy, red, and white. Their name reflected the region’s coal mining industry. The 1922 Miners dominated the league but were stripped of their title for using an ineligible player, and the team did not return until after World War II. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, they became a strong playoff contender, winning championships in 1949 and 1952, before folding with the rest of the league in 1955.
