The town of Clarksville, Tennessee, had a number of Kitty League teams over the years; it was hard to choose which one to feature. From 1903 through 1949 there were nine different monikers for Clarksville teams, including the Villagers, Grays, Volunteers, Billies, Rebels, Boosters, Owls, Colts, and Cats.
The franchise that became the Cats originated in 1946 and changed its name three times: the Owls in 1946, the Colts in 1947, and finally the Cats for 1948-49. Their cumulative record over those four seasons was 187-312, a winning percentage of just .375. The 1949 season was Clarksville's last with an affiliated minor league team.
