Mountain State League (WV)

The Mountain State League was a Class D minor league that operated from 1937 to 1942. The league featured ballclubs from western West Virginia (hence the Mountain State moniker) and one in Ashland, Kentucky. There was a explosion of minor league clubs throughout the United States during the first half of the 20th century and Appalachia was certainly part of it. While the league didn't last very long, the teams had really unique nicknames with local flavor for the towns and cities.

The Mountain State League featured teams such as the Ashland Colonels, Beckley Bengals, Bluefield Blue-Grays, Huntington Bees, Welch Miners, and Williamson Red Birds. The Red Birds were actually Stan Musial's first pro team!

Today, fans of baseball history can celebrate this unique league with a collection of original designs that honor these vintage defunct baseball teams. Each team has been reimagined through stylized, retro baseball tees that capture the spirit of the old time baseball and the team's unique monikers. These baseball t-shirts are printed on high-quality shirts in the USA, making them perfect for gifts or anyone looking for unique baseball shirts that stand out. Whether you're revisiting West Virginia baseball history or looking for standout retro gear, the Mountain State League collection offers a unique tribute to America’s pastime.
