The Clay City Nine were early baseball teams from Clay City, KY in the first half of the 20th century. The original team was active sometime between 1900 and 1920 and played various teams around Kentucky. It's not clear if they belonged to a specific league. Later, in the late 1950s and early 60s there was another team from Clay City that played amateur or semi-pro ball in the Central Kentucky Baseball League. The CKBL was much more localized as this team played teams from Irvine, Richmond, and surrounding central Kentucky towns. This design is based off the "CC" that the Clay City team from the 1910s wore on their jerseys.
