1909 Winchester Hustlers

Winchester Hustlers

The Winchester Hustlers were a minor league baseball team based in Winchester, Kentucky, active in the early 1900s. They competed in the Class D level Blue Grass League, which featured small-town teams from central Kentucky. The Hustlers played from 1908 through 1912.

The Hustlers won the league title in 1909 with a 75-44 record. Also that year pitcher threw a 17-inning no hitter, which is the longest no hitter in organized baseball. That came against the Lexington Colts on May 10, 1909. Toney would go on to play for a number of major league teams between 1911 and 1923.

The Hustlers continued play in the Blue Grass League through 1912 when the team would relocate to Mount Sterling. The Blue Grass League itself folded after the 1912 season.
