Worcester Tornadoes
The Worcester Tornadoes were an independent minor league baseball team based in Worcester, Massachusetts, competing in the Can-Am League from 2005 to 2012. They played home games at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field. The Tornadoes name comes from an F4 tornado that hit Worcester, MA, in 1953 and was one of the deadliest in history.
In their inaugural season, the Tornadoes clinched the 2005 Can-Am League Championship by sweeping the Québec Capitales 3–0.
Managed by former Boston Red Sox catcher Rich Gedman, the team featured notable players like Chris Colabello, who later played in MLB for the Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays. In 2012, the Tornadoes signed former MLB slugger José Canseco to a one-year contract.
Financial difficulties led to the termination of the franchise's charter by the Can-Am League in August 2012. But we continue the team's legacy through retro baseball t-shirts and apparel celebrating their unique history.
