Cynthiana Cobblers
The Cynthiana Cobblers were a professional minor league baseball team based in Cynthiana, Kentucky, that competed in the Class D Blue Grass League during the 1909 season. The team was one of six clubs in the league, joining franchises from Lexington, Paris, Richmond, Winchester, and Frankfort. They were managed by J.E. Kimbrough and Charles Stanley during the year. The team’s nickname, "Cobblers," is believed to reference the shoemaking trade, which may have been a notable industry in the area at the time. Specific information about the Cobblers’ home ballpark has not been definitively documented in surviving records. Like many early 20th-century minor league teams, the Cobblers existed for only a single season before folding. Despite their short tenure, they are part of the early fabric of Kentucky’s baseball history.
