Jacksonville Jacks
The Jacksonville Jacks, hailing from Jacksonville, IL, were a short-lived team from the KITTY League (Kentucky-Illinois-Tennessee) in 1906. The team's name was an homage to Jacksonville's railroad hub status in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The team would go 67-58 and finish 9 games behind Vincennes for the league pennant in 1906. The KITTY League would fold after the season.
The Jacks name was used again in 1910 as a team in the Northern Association, which consisted of teams in Illinois and Iowa. In that same season, Casey Stengel made his pro debut playing for the Kankakee Kays against the Jacks. However, the league would fold in July 1910. But wait, there's more! The Beardstown Infants of the Illinois-Missouri League moved to Jacksonville and became the Jacks for the remainder of 1910 until that team folded in August.
