Paris Bourbonites
The Paris Bourbonites were a minor league baseball team based in Paris, Kentucky, that played in the early 20th century. They were active during multiple seasons, notably in 1908 and 1910–1912, as members of the Blue Grass League, a Class D circuit. The team's name was a reference to Bourbon County, where Paris is located, and the region’s association with bourbon whiskey. Home games were played at Bourbon County Park and White Park.
The Bourbonites competed against other Kentucky-based teams such as the Lexington Colts and the Winchester Hustlers. The league itself folded and reformed several times, with the Bourbonites among the clubs that came and went with the league’s instability. The team resurfaced in the early 1920s as the Paris Bourbons and, in some places are references as the Paris Mammoths; another great team name!
