Dayton Beach Islanders
The Daytona Beach Islanders were a baseball team from Daytona Beach, FL. There were a number of iterations of the Islanders franchise starting in 1920 all the way through 1987. Our apparel is based on the latest version of the Islanders that played in the Florida State League in the late 1970s and 1980s.
The Daytona Beach Islanders name dates all the way back to 1920 when an independent league team used the name through 1924, when they moved and became the Clearwater Pelicans.
From 1936-41 another team used the name, and in this instance Stan Musial played the 1940 season for the Islanders as they were a Cardinals affiliate at the time.
Tony LaRussa would play for the Islanders in the early 1960s.
The most recent iteration of the team started play in 1977 at City Island Ballpark, now known as Jackie Robinson Ballpark. This ballpark was opened in 1914 and hosted most of the Islanders franchises over the years.
The Islanders name stopped being used in 1987 as the team rebranded to the Daytona Beach Admirals for the '87 season.
