Batavia Clippers
Baseball in Batavia has a long history that dates back all the way to 1897 and the Batavia Giants of the NY-Penn League. Throughout the years a number of different teams have inhabited the city including the Indians, Pirates, and Trojans.
The Batavia Clippers moniker dates back to 1939 and an orignal PONY League (Pennsylvania - Ohio - New York) team from the league's first year. The Clippers played short-season Class A ball in the PONY League, and won the league in 1945 & 1946. The team would fold after the 1953 season. In 1988, the Clippers name was reprised again in the PONY League (now called the NY-Penn League). These Clippers wouldn't have as much success as the original, finishing around .500 each year. In their last season, 1997, the team did make a playoff run, ultimately losing in the league final.
To celebrate the Clippers' history in Batavia, we've created apparel celebrating the classic team, with both a selection of 1990s logo gear and our own historic illustration celebrating the earlier Clippers teams.
