Evansville River Rats
There's a long history of baseball in Evansville, Indiana, and one of the earliest teams were the Evansville River Rats who played from 1901 - 1915. The River Rats started play in 1901 in the Three I League (Illinois - Indiana - Iowa League) and played there for two seasons. They moved to the Central League in 1903 where they would stay through their end in 1915 (save for a couple of missed seasons in 1911 and 1912). The River Rats were Central League champions in 1908 and 1915, and played at Bosse Field. Bosse Field is the third oldest ballpark that is still in use, and as of 2026 plays host to the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League.
