The Jacksonville Jacks, from Jacksonville, Illinois, were a short-lived Kitty League (Kentucky-Illinois-Tennessee) team in 1906. The name was an homage to Jacksonville's status as a railroad hub in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Jacks went 67-58 and finished nine games behind Vincennes for the 1906 pennant, and the Kitty League folded after the season.
The Jacks name was used again in 1910 by a team in the Northern Association, a league of Illinois and Iowa clubs. That same season Casey Stengel made his professional debut for the Kankakee Kays in a game against the Jacks. The league folded in July 1910, but the story wasn't over: the Beardstown Infants of the Illinois-Missouri League moved to Jacksonville and became the Jacks for the remainder of 1910, until that team folded in August.
