The Big Stone Gap Rebels were a minor league team from Big Stone Gap, Virginia, that played in the Mountain States League. The Mountain States League was a Class D league of teams from the mountains of Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, and was a successful circuit for its time. The Rebels played at Bullitt Park, which is still in use as a public park with athletic facilities today.
The team played during a time when professional baseball was rapidly expanding across small towns, as many cities and states established their own leagues and teams.
