The Hazard Bombers arrived from Oak Ridge in mid-1948 and played the Class D Mountain States League through 1952. The 1951 club opened with a no-hitter from 19-year-old Juan Torres and finished 91-33 behind Johnny Podres, who went 21-3 with a 1.67 ERA and 228 strikeouts on his way to World Series fame with Brooklyn. That team was later named one of the top 100 in minor league history.
The 1952 Bombers went 87-32 in the club's last season. Hazard has not had professional baseball since.
