The Jacksonville Tomato Pickers (yes, that was their real name) were a minor league team from Jacksonville, Texas, that played in the East Texas League. The name comes from Jacksonville's moniker as the Tomato Capital of the World for its significant tomato production; the city still holds an annual tomato festival. The Tomato Pickers played one season, 1916, and are believed to be the first baseball team established in Jacksonville. The 1916 season was a short one, called in mid-July due to low attendance, with Lufkin declared the winner.
