The Pine Tree Capers were a minor league team that played out of Portland, Maine, in the Maine State League during the 1907 and 1908 seasons. They were joined in the league by fellow Portlanders, the Portland Blue Sox, and both clubs played at Back Cove Park. The Capers name is a poetic one, suggesting a club that was cheeky and up to something on the field, so we tried to make our mascot embody that spirit.
