The Topeka Owls were a Class C team in the Western Association from 1939 to 1942 and 1946 to 1954. The Owls played at Owl Ballpark on North Topeka Boulevard, which grew from 2,750 seats to 4,700 during their run. The team's best season was its last, with 87 wins in 1954 as a Chicago White Sox affiliate.

Bill Rigney, later manager of the New York and San Francisco Giants and the first manager of the Los Angeles Angels, played infield for the 1940 Owls.
