Henderson, Kentucky, across the Ohio River from Evansville, Indiana, was another western Kentucky town that fielded a Kitty League team off and on through the first two decades of the 20th century.

The first Henderson team, which apparently didn't have a nickname, played in the Kentucky-Indiana League and the Central League in 1896 and 1897. There was then a five-year hiatus before the Henderson Blue Birds played in the Kitty League for the 1903 and 1904 seasons. Thereafter, all the rest of the Henderson teams would be named the Hens.

The first Hens team played in the Kitty League in 1905 and was a continuation of the club previously named the Blue Birds. That team was forced to fold in July of 1905 while sporting a 29-47 record.

Professional baseball did not return to Henderson until 1911, when the team in McLeansboro, Illinois, moved to Henderson in midseason and became the Hens once again. This ushered in a period of some stability, as the Hens played five of the next six seasons of Kitty League play.

1916 was the last year for professional baseball in Henderson, as the Kitty League folded in August of that year. When the league re-formed, Henderson wasn't part of it. While the Henderson-Evansville area would seem a natural home for minor league baseball, the Henderson teams were likely overshadowed by the clubs across the river in Evansville, which generally played in a higher (Class B) league than the Class D Kitty League Hens.

Retro Baseball Revival celebrates historic baseball teams with unique apparel, honoring their legacy and bringing history to one-of-a-kind clothing with our old school retro baseball tees from defunct Minor League Baseball teams. All of our high quality apparel is designed, printed, and shipped within the USA. This collection features 100% original designs based on the history and nicknames of historic minor league teams.

Our premium lightweight shirts are the hugely popular Bella+Canvas brand 3001 tees. They are much lighter and thinner feeling than a traditional heavyweight tee. They also are more form fitting and feel more snug. These are generally 90% to 100% cotton, although please note that heather colors in this item are 52% cotton.

Size Guide: Fit is true to size or a little snug. Considering ordering one size up if you are normally between sizes.
