The Ardmore Boomers, based in Ardmore, Oklahoma, played a single season in the Class B Western Association in 1925, taking their name from the oil boom reshaping the city's economy at the time. The Boomers finished 86-64 and defeated the Muskogee Athletics 4 games to 1 in the finals to claim the 1925 Western Association championship. The franchise relocated to Joplin, Missouri the following year to become the Joplin Ozarks.

The 1925 club followed a year after the 1924 Ardmore Bearcats, whose roster included a 21-year-old Carl Hubbell in his second professional season. Hubbell would go on to a Hall of Fame career with the New York Giants. Ardmore later fielded teams in the Sooner State League from 1947 through the circuit's final 1957 season, winning the league championship in that final year, but it is the oil-boom-era Boomers name that stands as the most distinctive chapter in the city's long baseball history.

In the years before television brought major league baseball into American homes, minor leagues were a central part of community life across small-town America. At the peak of the minor league era, more than 50 leagues and nearly 500 clubs operated nationwide, giving fans in hundreds of cities their only connection to professional baseball. The Western Association was one of the longer-running circuits in this era, fielding teams across Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas in various incarnations from the late 1800s through 1954.
