The Ironton Nailers were a minor league baseball team from Ironton, Ohio, named for the region’s iron and steel industry. They began play in 1911 in the Mountain States League, finishing last that season before rebranding as the Ironton Forgers in 1912, when they led the league before it folded mid-season. From 1913 to 1915, the team played in the Ohio State League, which also collapsed midway through the 1915 campaign. Teams like the Nailers reflected the era’s deep connection between baseball and local identity, helping small towns embrace America’s pastime during a period of rapid growth in minor league baseball.
