The Lewiston Cupids were a minor league team that played in the New England League in the 1914 and 1915 seasons. Lewiston had previously hosted an un-nicknamed team in the Maine State League in 1907 and 1908. The Cupids have a claim to fame beyond their unique nickname: they threw back-to-back no-hitters in a doubleheader against the Lowell Grays, Oscar Tuero in the opener and Otto Rettig in the second game. Tuero's went nine innings and Rettig's five, the second game presumably having been called early.
