McLeansboro, Illinois, briefly hosted minor league baseball in the early 1900s. The McLeansboro Merchants played in the short-lived Southern Illinois League in 1910 before it folded that July. That same year, the KITTY League placed a team in town called the Billikens, who won the second-half title with a 40–18 record. Renamed the Miners in 1911, the team soon relocated to Henderson, Kentucky, becoming the Henderson Hens since McLeansboro did not allow Sunday baseball.
