The Rockford Rox were one of the earliest and most notable minor league baseball teams from Rockford, playing in the Three-I League from 1917-1923. The Rox were consistently competitive, finishing second in the league standings three times before folding after the 1923 season. The Rox name later returned in the late 1940s, though the city’s most famous baseball team at the time was the Rockford Peaches of the AAWPBL.
